About DCS

Our mandate is public safety through transformation.

The Department of Correctional Services Jamaica administers adult and juvenile correctional centres, remand centres, probation, and community corrections across the fourteen parishes.

Our mission

To contribute to national security and public safety through the effective custody, care, rehabilitation, and reintegration of offenders — and through the supervision of those serving community-based orders.

Our values

  • Dignity. Every person in our care is treated with humanity.
  • Integrity. We act with honesty, transparency, and accountability.
  • Professionalism. Our staff are trained, supported, and held to high standards.
  • Service. We serve the people of Jamaica — local and overseas.
  • Transformation. We hold a genuine belief that change is possible.
